Join Maria of Four Season Foraging for a special weekend exploring the fungi and evergreens of the Superior National Forest. Attendees will enjoy guided foraging hikes, learning sessions and related activities, and fresh, lodge-cooked meals.
Registration includes:
3 nights lodging in a shared cabin or private lodge room
2 days of foraging classes, excursions, and activities
Breakfasts (Saturday-Monday) and Dinner (Saturday-Sunday) provided

Time outside identifying and foraging for evergreens, including juniper, balsam fir, spruces, and pines

Cross River Suite ($975) comes with 1 registration, and sleeps up to 2 guests across 1 king bed. Suite includes a jetted soaking tub and gas fireplace.
Maria has been gathering wild edibles since 2004 and loves sharing this skill with others. She has spent over 10 years teaching foraging and other nature programs at various organizations in the Upper Midwest. In 2017, Maria founded Four Season Foraging to offer monthly foraging workshops, creating a space where people can learn to interact with urban and rural wild places in meaningful and sustainable ways.

Breakfasts Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will be provided, as well as dinner Saturday and Sunday nights. After you register we will be in touch to confirm your visit and check-in about any dietary accommodations.
We will have a limited dining menu, along with beer and wine, available Friday night for purchase between 5-7pm.
Lunches are not provided.

Absolutely. The winter is a wonderful time to forage for plants and fungi living above the snow cover.

Winter is a beautiful time to visit the Boundary Waters. Here are a few recommendations to make it a more comfortable and enjoyable experience:
Be prepared for cold temps with plenty of upper and lower layers, wool socks, warm boots, mittens, hats and scarves.
4/AWD vehicles are required for visiting Borderland Lodge
We offer complimentary snowshoes for guests to enjoy in your downtime. Our lodge is close to several ski systems so don’t forget to bring your nordic skis – or rent a pair from Sawtooth Outfitters on your way up!
