Canoeing and Kayaking
Borderland Lodge is deep in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW), connecting to five other lakes as well as thousands of miles of routes ready for exploration.
Borderland Lodge is located next to entry point 57 off of Magnetic Lake and offers day permits in the Lodge.
Hiking
There is plenty of hiking trails along the Gunflint to satisfy a range of experience and interest levels. Whether you’re looking for panoramic views or a leisurely way to spend the afternoon – there is a hiking trail for you!
When it’s cold
After the leaves turn brown and the snow falls, the Gunflint turns into a magical winter wonder land. Don’t let cold temps keep you from enjoying some of the best outdoor adventure Minnesota has to offer!
Cross Country Skiing
Ski out from the lodge and push yourself on the the Upper Gunflint Trail System, or head to the nearby Banadad Trail for smooth skiing and moose viewing! With almost 250 miles of Nordic Trails connected to the Gunflint – there’s plenty to keep you moving.
Snowmobiling
Borderland Lodge is located adjacent to the Gunflint Trail snowmobile trails and the Ontario snowmobile trail system.
Gunflint Trail Snowmobile Trail System – 108+ miles of groomed riding.

Snowshoeing
